Residential Property Appraisers Job Description
Residential property appraisers provide objective, impartial, and unbiased opinions of real property. An appraiser develops an opinion of value after detailed research on the subject property. This value is then communicated to the client or intended user in a comprehensive appraisal report. These reports assist those who own, manage, sell, invest in, or lend money to secure real estate (and many other purposes).
Residential property appraisers perform the following tasks:
Gather, verify, and analyze residential property data
Measure subject and any additional structures on the property
Inspect interior and exterior of all buildings
Photograph subject and comparable properties
Note property’s architectural quality and finishes
State the property’s intended use
Assess the subject property’s neighborhood and market attributes
Obtain current information related to the property
Compile all information into a user-friendly appraisal report
